The ways children learn

While every child is their own little person, most children are very similar in the way they absorb information. Kids learn best by observing first, listening and then doing. You vacuum, your toddler pretends to vacuum; you’re gentle to the doggy, your child is gentle to the doggy; you laugh at something funny … well, you get the picture.

The knowledge kids soak up during their early years remains in their memory banks forever. But it’s important to realise that kids will learn the most when teaching is structured in an age appropriate way.

At Ready Steady Go Kids we’re real sticklers for age appropriate learning. In fact, our program has been specifically designed to suit three age levels, ensuring that what’s taught is not only thoroughly enjoyed but also grasped by each and every child. So what can you expect your child to be learning at each stage in our classes? Here, we tell you…

The ‘Ready’ level of Ready Steady Go Kids is tailored to suit two-and-a-half to three year olds. It’s aimed at developing the physical skills of movement, balance and posture. And it’s great because it focuses on spatial awareness while also encouraging listening, cooperation and socialisation skills.

Between the ages of two-and-a-half to three, your child’s curiosity rivals that of any cat in the universe. Kids this age want to tear around and explore; their bodies and minds crave the new. Some children are more than ready to actively participate in every part of the ‘Ready’ program, while others prefer to share their time between watching some parts of the program and participating in others. This is perfectly normal behavior for this age group as observing is a huge part of the learning process.

The concepts taught during the ‘Ready’ level are basic and broken into short time blocks to maintain the children’s attention. Whether you’ve got a real social butterfly or a child who tips the shyness end of the scale, Ready Steady Go Kids is a great introduction to organised activity.

The ‘Steady’ level of the Ready Steady Go Kids program is specifically tailored towards three to four year olds who show greater comprehension skills and are better at getting along with other kids, without the aid of their parents. This program is all about encouraging a higher level of independence, developing gross and fine motor skills and rapidly upping their coordination.

Children aged four to six are the big kids at Ready Steady Go Kids and form the ‘Go’ group. At this stage of life kids are learning less through observation and more by getting in amongst it. They’re much better at sharing and their social skills have soared too.

Classes for children in the ‘Go’ group are faster paced and challenging – which is just what kids of this age need. We work on refining skills and there are real opportunities to master the components of each sport. Your child’s persistence and decision-making skills are brought to the fore, while teamwork and sportsmanship are a real focus. Parents just love seeing their kids develop into confident little team players during these classes.

In all three groups, Ready Steady Go Kids teaches children the thrill of being involved in sport while preparing them for their school years, which lie just over the horizon.

We’re proud of the program we’ve developed and we’re sure your kids will benefit from participating in our classes in more ways than you ever could have imagined.  If you haven’t already tried our program, please remember that we do offer free trial classes and we’d love for your child to come along and experience the fun and excitement of Ready Steady Go Kids – please call 1300 766 892 for more information.
