Ready Steady Go Kids - More than just sport!
What is there not to love about
trying a new sport every two weeks? Soccer, Tennis, Hockey, Rugby, T-ball,
Athletics, Basketball, Golf, AFL & Cricket. Lots of sports to cover means
lots of developmental gross motor skills to learn.
Eliminate
the boredom factor
By changing sports every two
weeks your child won’t be bored with the program. The majority of the
fundamental skills of each sport are taught in the first week and repeated in
the second week to give the kids the opportunity to remember what they have
learned in the previous week and practice these skills. Repeating the sports
and fundamental actions required for each sport builds muscle memory. This
means the body remembers what to do and can automatically undertake these actions
and master the skills learned. There is such a broad range of developmental
gross motor skills across the 10 sports that there is always something new to
try or master.
Become
‘school ready’
By experiencing a variety of
sports in a child’s early years gives them the confidence to try a broader
range of sports when they get to school. Children who have participated in a
multi-sport program will be familiar with the sports and equipment and
fundamental skills… and their bodies will have done these developmental skills
before.
A
‘whole of body’ gross motor workout
Most importantly by participating
in a multi-sport program you are giving your child’s body a ‘whole of body’
gross motor work out. At Ready Steady Go Kids, not only do we teach children
across Australia the basic skills behind 10 great sports, but we are also developing
the gross motor skills that go with each sport. For example, our bat sports
such as Tennis, Cricket, Golf & Tball are focusing on hand-eye coordination
but with different sized bats and balls all with different speeds and control
that is required to ‘hit the ball’. Other sports such as AFL, Rugby &
Soccer are focusing on foot-eye coordination with different shaped balls and
different sized goals to aim for. The Ready Steady Go Kids program is truly progressive
based on the developmental stages of toddlers and pre-schoolers and our age-appropriate
activities reflect this.
Our Paediatric Occupational
Therapist - Carmen Dodds, at Ready Steady Go Kids regularly reviews the program
to ensure that every class has a gross motor focus to ensure the development of
all muscle groups. Ready Steady Go Kids is more than just sport!
