The grand finale!

And for the grand finale: T-ball or Athletics! What a great way to finish off this term of Ready Steady Go Kids. And don’t worry, if you’re also excited about the other sport your child isn’t doing… they’ll be doing it next term. Here at Ready Steady Go Kids we rotate between 10 different sports, covering 5 each term. This gives your child the chance to experience a variety of sports, giving them insight to assist them in the future when they decide which specific sports to pursue. Although we change the sport up fortnightly, every class has the same routine, providing a structured environment that kids thrive in. We start with our welcome song and introduction to the sport, then we do warm-ups and stretches, then comes the sport instruction broken down into 3-5 fundamentals, and then we finish off class working on fine and gross motor skill development through games and other activities.

For T-ball, think “American Baseball.” Swing, batta batta, swing! Imagine American hotdogs and popcorn and the music of the bandstands and watch as your child learns to hit a homerun and run around the bases. They will also learn throwing and fielding.
For Athletics they get to do hurdles, long-jump, shot-put, sprinting, and relay races! A tip for helping your child with hurdling: it’s one foot over the hurdle at a time… not a ‘two-feet together’ jump. Start slowly with your child, first walking over the hurdle, step-by-step, one foot over first, then the other. Then speed it up until finally your child can confidently run over the hurdle without pausing to consider what their feet are doing!

And why not follow up class by making this treat with your child: ‘T-ball Tahini Balls’ (or ‘Shot-put Tahini Balls’). These balls are delicious, and you will have fun making them together. Tahini Balls are also high in calcium, and they are gluten and dairy free.

½ cup tahini
½ cup honey
½ cup desiccated coconut
½ cup LSA (a combination of linseed (flaxseed) sunflower seed and almond which is made into a ground meal)
1 cup dried apricot pieces (or fruit mixture of your choice)
½ cup chopped almonds

  • Mix all ingredients together to make a stiff mixture. Use more coconut if necessary. Mix into small balls and roll in coconut or LSA, or a combination. I personally like rolling them in a mixture of cocoa powder and coconut. Enjoy!
